January 12th: Maquerie University in Sydney |
Journal Entry:
Our first day in Sydney Australia was kicked off with a meeting with Maquarie’s dean of journalism and communication department, Nicole Anderson. She was accompanied by Amanda who is an advisor for post graduate studies. They discussed the cost of studying abroad, how they teach journalism students and the research that comes out of their institution. Nichole’s specialty was the same as mine.
What i learned from Nicole and Amanda
- Nicole – post-grad teacher and advisor in communication and new media.
- Amanda – an advisor with the foreign exchange office
- Operates on the Hicks system - Pay after education, not before.
- Demographics are about 50/50 and due to hicks system there is great diversity in class.
